Motorcycle Touring Accessories

Motorcycle touring accessories are a necessity when it come to the long distance ride. But, before we get into that discussion about what accessories to get or use, lets look at the touring ride first.

When taking a motorcycle touring ride, whether it be organized by a company or whether it is just a group of friends that want to take a trip together, there are certain things that the rider should know before taking off into the sunset.

The motorcycle does not have to be brand new.

As a matter of fact, many older models are actually better suited for such an adventure. As long as the machine is mechanically sound, it will work. One should have a certified motorcycle mechanic look over every aspect of the bike beforehand. They can tell you what any of the problem areas will be therefore, one will have the opportunity to fix them ahead of time. Tires are extremely crucial when it comes to the ride, therefore, be sure that your tires are ready and capable of making the trip. Tire pressure is very important and should be checked regularly.

Now for some of the Items to take with you. A tool kit is an absolute necessity and should include a tire repair kit or at least a can of fix-a-flat. Breakdowns do occur and it is a normal aspect of long distance touring. Therefore, be prepared as be as you can.

Gear should include both warm and cold weather attire. A wet suit should also be included in this clothing as well as a jacket and gloves. It gets cold from time to time in the wind, even if the sitting weather is warm therefore, be prepared for all the weather extremes. It is better to have it and not need it than it is to not have is and need it.

A water bottle should be with you at all times too. There will be times when there is nothing to drink and one is thirsty. This watter bottle will certainly come in handy.

A first aid kit is a great thing to have on hand too. This little item is worth its weight in gold if and when needed.

As far as everything else, that will be a matter of personal preference and a choice of each individual rider. Keep in mind that one will need to carry all the gear therefore, one would want either touring cases or maybe saddle bags. Try to keep the weight as little as possible and pack comfortably.

These tours can go from mountains to sea to heartland valleys and everywhere in between therefore, be prepared and have the proper motorcycle touring accessories. Also, enjoy the ride.

Commonly referred to as the couch on two wheels, the Honda Gold Wing is probably the motorcycle most commonly mocked by riders who have never ridden one. It's big. It's bulky. There is a lot of fairing and so many but-tons.
